Backyard Farming

NJCD provides grants to individuals and groups in Independence, Missouri, to support urban farming and food production initiatives. Funding may be used for land access, supplies, equipment, livestock, and other essential resources. Grant recipients are encouraged to share the harvest with friends and neighbors and to inspire others to begin sustainable food production on their own property.

A core part of our mission is to strengthen local food systems that are not dependent on supply chains outside of Independence, Missouri.
